Help Suzanne Aucoin
Update Feb. 1, 2006
Hello! Yesterday I received my normal treatment of erbitux. Unfortunately, prior to my
treatment, my doctor informed me that my cea (blood marker) had risen significantly
in just two weeks. We had lowered my chemo dosage and then my cea rose. It can
mean a few things but for me it usually means new growth. This is very upsetting and
frustrating for me as I expected erbitux to be my wonder drug.
I will get my chemo dosage increased next week. The following week, I will have a CT
scan. At that point, we will re-assess situation and decide what to do.
In the meantime, I will be taking a step back from fundraising and delegating those
responsibilities. I need to focus on what is out there and what doctors can suggest
for me. It looks like experimental drugs will be in the mix.
The National Post and the Canadian Cancer Advocacy Coalition published articles
about my situation yesterday and today. The Standard newspaper will be publishing
another story later this week.
Thanks for your continued positive thoughts and well wishes.
