Update March 2, 2007

MARCH is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month! The Colorectal Cancer Association of
Canada (www.ccac-accc.ca) will be issuing press releases regarding screening and
access to treatments.  Personally, I plan on focusing on the lack of cancer care
funding (Ontario and Nova Scotia rank the lowest in the country and Canada ranks the
lowest of the G8 countries) and the unjust proposal from Cancer Care Ontario for
cancer patients to pay for unfunded drugs (no other critical illness is treated this way).

Today, I have a phone interview with the Globe and Mail. On Wednesday, I had an
interview with Terry Reith from CBC regarding Erbitux and the Drug Oncology Review
which is being lead by Cancer Care Ontario. This is another example of government
spinning a horrible process to make themselves look good. Ontario has the worst
record for cancer care funding and they are leading a national review for all oncology
drugs.  British Columbia is the best. Why aren’t we looking at them for a
protocol??????????

Unfortunately, lunch with the Ombudsman, Andre Marin, was cancelled again due to
weather. I may have another opportunity to meet with him in Toronto in two weeks.  I
will be at the University of Toronto, Monk International School of Studies, to
participate in a panel discussion on out of country coverage. Should be interesting!

Until then, I am awaiting information from Dr. Andrew Kennedy from Wake Radiology
Oncology in North Carolina regarding my eligibility for SIR spheres.  This is the liver
radiation treatment that is quite costly.  I will also have a CT scan on Tuesday (March
6th) which will determine if I stay on erbitux.

Fortunately, I have been feeling well and engaged in all of my activities.  I am really
energized about advocacy and awareness.

Happy weekend!
