Update May 17, 2006

Hello!! I am doing very well these days. I had two long day of treatments on Monday
and Tuesday but it is my job and I try to be patient. On Tuesday, Dr. Major in Hamilton
felt it was time to drop the drug known as 5FU as my toe and finger nails are having a
hard time fighting infections.  He feels the toxicity level is too much. I knew I needed
a break from one drug but wasn’t sure if it should be the avastin.  My next CT scan on
June 5th will let me know if this combination can still work and will ultimately decide if
I continue with Erbitux.

I am taking a break from treatment at the end of the month and look forward to re-
charging my batteries. The numbers are in from the golf tournament. It looks like we
raised $10,000. It was a really fun day and I truly enjoyed myself.  I am looking forward
to a teacher pub night this Friday and appreciate that the proceeds will be going to
me.

I have secured three speaking engagements for the month of June and will continue
to make contact with insurance companies to spread the word on critical illness
coverage.

For now, the research is taking a back burner as the advocacy issues are heating up.  I
have written a letter to the drug secretariat at the Ministry of Health. There is also
going to be a presentation where colon cancer patients are going to be represented.
Let’s hope Bill 102 is an effective piece of legislation that moves Ontario Health Care
into the 21st century!!

As always thanks for tuning in….
