Update May 26, 2007

I apologize for such a delay in updating my website …. It truly has been one of the
worst months of my cancer journey thus far….

It started with the xeloda (oral chemo) that caused severe diarrhea.  Later that week I
became jaundiced (just before the golf tournament) and headed off to North Carolina
despite the condition.  The tests were good in North Carolina for the sirspheres but
the jaundice got worse…. However, the bile duct stent got cleaned out and a
temporary stent was placed inside the original.

The following week I started taking antibiotics because I had a fever and the next
thing you know I am in the hospital because the infection had intensified and a touch
of pneumonia has surfaced.  This past week I had a blood transfusion and another
stent replacement with a metal one to become more long term (hopefully).

So I finally have turned a corner…. My parents and I leave on Tuesday for North
Carolina and I will get the sirspheres on May 30th.  It is just day surgery but we will
stick around for a couple of days to see how it goes.

As well, I saw a pain management and symptom nurse yesterday and that really helped
me to know how to use my drugs to ensure comfort and decrease meltdowns due to
pain and anxiety.

I am slowly regaining my appetite and continue to work on getting a decent night of
sleep.  It is just the simple things I want!!!!!

I will write an update as soon as I return from North Carolina… wish me luck!!!
