Help Suzanne Aucoin
Update June 4, 2007

Well folks I was hoping to be writing how about how well the sirspheres procedure
went….. instead I am writing to tell you it has been postponed to this week – June
6th.  I got a phone call early last Tuesday morning from the nurse informing me that
the doctor had broken his ankle and required surgery.  Not what I was expecting but
completely out of my control.

I was determined to have a good day despite my disappointment.  As the days march
on it has been very difficult to keep up the positive attitude.  My energy level is low
and my spirits match my energy level.  I am completely frustrated by the number of set
backs I have experienced over the last 6 weeks.  I am the kind of person who wants
things done yesterday so this limbo land is not for me.

Fortunately, I have had good company from friends and family.  So the tentative plan is
to leave tomorrow to Raleigh and then return on Saturday.  My brother will be visiting
the same day we arrive home and we are all heading up to a cottage in Muskoka.  I was
afforded this opportunity through Cottage Dreams which is an organization that
donates the use of a cottage for five days to cancer survivors and their families.  I
truly hope this is my respite after such a challenging time.  I look forward to being by
the water and in nature for their healing qualities.

Then on June 18th I will head back to Roswell Park, Amherst satellite campus to start
my erbitux again.  There was a miscommunication in the reading of a scan on April 3rd
that prompted me to write that there was new growth that required me to change
drugs.  In fact, there was minimal growth that indicates stability and therefore I return
to erbitux.  I hope the confusion is sorted out with OHIP soon.  On June 19th I will
return to the Juravinski centre to return to folfiri, the chemo that is combined with
erbitux.

Please pray and send positive energy my way that this tentative plan works out and I
return to a routine that is manageable.

Sincerely
Suzanne Aucoin
