Update June 13, 2006
Howdy! Well second of a three day cycle of treatment. All is good so far. I got the
results of the CT scan and it showed stability in the liver tumours and minimal growth
in the lung tumours. My doctor deems it stability and I will continue with Erbitux for
another two months. He needs to re-apply to OHIP out of country coverage and
hopefully they won’t give me any problems. I am scheduled to get Erbitux next week….
OHIP has officially denied my reimbursement for the $60,000 plus I had spent on
Erbitux in five months. I of course am fighting this with the help of a lawyer. I still don’
t know how all of this works but I anticipate a trial in the coming months.
I am encouraging all of you to contact your MP and MPP to voice your concerns on
the lack of funding and accessibility to cancer drugs. I am attaching a submission that
we sent to the Ministry of Health outlining our concerns for Bill 102 – a proposed bill
to make things better for cancer patients. We’ll see how that goes…..
We had our second meeting for the colon cancer resource group on Sunday. It was
good to get together with other patients to share information, strategies and
advocacy efforts. Our next meeting is on July 9th.
While I had a break two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to see Inconvenient Truth. It
is an eco documentary on global warming narrated by Al Gore. It was excellent and a
must see. I see a strong link between health of the planet with health of people.

Until next time…..
