Update Aug. 7, 2006

Hello! I hope everyone was able to enjoy the long weekend.

I have just returned from a five day visit to Muskoka. Between reading, walking,
swimming and visiting with relatives, I found lots of time to relax. I feel really
rejuvenated.

Good news – I found out that my CT scan showed stability and that means I will stay on
Erbitux for another two months. I don’t see Dr. Major at the Juravinski until next
week… I want to talk to him about this wonky CEA count.

I have also decided to take this week off of chemo for a variety of reasons.  My toe
infections and lip sores need some time to heal. I also need the break from the
hospital to take care of some business…. It is going to be a full week of meetings,
interviews and preparations for the volleyball tournament and summer lovin…

My lawyer has filed for a lawsuit against the government regarding the monies spent on
Erbitux from the end of Oct. to the end of March.  In the meantime, there will be a
trial on Sept. 18th with OHIP to have one last attempt of trying to get a
reimbursement.  My lawyer assures me that this is a formality with no positive resolve
for me. However, it is necessary to exhaust all of the OHIP pathways to show all of my
efforts when it comes time for the lawsuit.

I am excited to get moving on the advocacy front with the colon cancer resource
group. We are meeting this Sunday to strategize and mobilize for the fall.

I hope to see you at the volleyball tournament (Aug. 20th) or Summer Lovin (Aug. 25th)

Ciao for now
