Update Sept. 13, 2006

Hello all!! Well this rainy evening finds me rather relaxed and feeling okay from my
heavy treatment today. Of course I have insomnia but that is par for the course.

I really enjoyed my week away and it was good for the soul.  I believe these small
breaks allow my body a break to get back at treatment fresher.

This week includes an interview, video and strategy meeting with my lawyer.  My OHIP
trial is on Monday and I don’t really expect any great changes.  It is part of the
process for the bigger picture of suing the government and trying to change the
system.

There was an advocacy meeting with the Colon Cancer Resource and Action Group on
Sunday. My dad attended it for me and lots of great ideas were put forward. A
steering committee is being created to generate ideas and actions to put pressure on
the government for fair and equitable access to all cancer drugs. We are going to be
working with the multiple myeloma patients and other interested parties.  It is exciting
to get the ball rolling and a daunting task to try to influence the Minister of Health
and other decision makers when it comes to cancer care.  Bill 102 is just ridiculous
and seems to be moving forward.

This weekend I will be in Chicago for a colon cancer alliance conference. Looking
forward to hanging out in the windy city and meeting up with other patients to get a
feel for what is going on in the U.S.  information is power!!!

Thanks again for checking in…
