Update Sept 21, 2007
Happy Friday to everyone! It’s hard to believe that it is fall with such great sunshine
surrounding us!
It has been a busy week. On Monday I went for Erbitux and a scrumptious meal at the
Cheesecake Factory. My appetite is still in full strength. I have lost a lot of weight so I
am trying to gain some of it back.
On Tuesday we had our press conference at Queen’s Park for the nomorewaiting.info
campaign. It was well organized and ran smoothly. I was interviewed by CTV and
they did a great job of explaining the issues on the news that night. We are basically
asking for the same level of cancer care that cancer patients receive in British
Columbia. As well, we are asking for the latest in PET scan imaging that Quebec offers
its cancer patients. PET scans are able to diagnosis and read the spread of cancer
better than a CT scan. PLEASE SIGN THE PETITION ON THE WEBSITE AND FORWARD IT
TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN.
When I went for my check up yesterday with Dr. Major (I had to wait two hours to see
him because he has inherited another oncologists practice!!!!) I had some good
results. It looks like the radiation is working and the jaundice is clearing up. As well,
my CEA seems to be stable. This prepares for my meeting on Monday with Dr. Fakih
who is so skeptical.
I am slowly getting back into my groove and feeling like myself again. It was tough not
having my dad at the press conference but I hope he knows about all the good stuff
that is still going on. I thank all of you for your continued concern and support as I
journey through this challenge.
