Update Oct 2 , 2007
Hi everyone! I am writing to you from the Juravinski Cancer Centre. I had a crazy
week last week. I was at the St. Catharines General Hospital emerg dept with a numb
face, jittery hands and my heart racing. 7 hours later I was diagnosed with
dehydration and a bile duct infection.
When I came to Hamilton on Tuesday to see my supportive care doctor, she was
concerned with how I looked and it turns out I was dehydrated again. The antibiotics
they had given me cause instant diarrhea. My regular oncologist, Dr. Major, came to
see me and wasn’t very impressed with how I was treated. He admitted into the
Henderson and ran more tests.
Dr. Sprout (Dr. Major’s counterpart in the hospital) eased my mind she told me the
heart racing and other symptoms were due to the anti-depressant (amitryptiline) that I
was on. An ultrasound revealed that the main bile duct is clear and no sign of
infection. The fevers were due to tumour necrosis (death) from the radiation I had on
the liver.
So yesterday I went to Roswell Park and had Erbitux. And now I wait for the chemo
part – cpt 11.
My energy level is alright. My appetite is good and my sleep is mostly good.
I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
